Have a few questions about kitchen hoods and fire extinguisher inspections?
Hopefully these Q&A’s will help you. Feel free to contact us if you have any additional questions. We are always happy to help!

What is a fire suppression system inspection?

An inspection is meant to make sure your kitchen hood suppression system will activate in the event of a fire. Our licensed technician will thoroughly go through your system replacing parts and correcting any issues. We have a large check list that is meticulously gone through at every inspection.

How often should my kitchen fire suppression system be inspected?

The NFPA 96 requires you to complete a kitchen hood fire suppression system inspection every 6 months. It must be completed by a licensed fire protection technician.

How does a kitchen fire suppression system work?

In the event of a fire the fuse links located behind the grease filters reach a certain temperature signaling the system to fire the wet chemical and put out the fire. It is vital that this system is maintained to ensure it actuates as a result of a fire.

What do I need to do before my inspection?

Make sure your kitchen hood is off and not hot. Also, your fire alarm must be turned off during the inspection so make sure you have all the proper information to turn the alarm off.

How often does my fire extinguisher need to be inspected?

The NFPA 10 requires fire extinguishers to be inspected once every 12 months. It must be completed by a licensed fire protection technician.

What is a 6-year and 12-year service on my fire extinguisher?

A 6-year service is required when the extinguisher is 6 years old. The service empties, disassembles, cleans and recharges the extinguisher ensuring proper function if used.

A 12-year Hydrostatic test includes the 6-year service but also requires the tank to be pressure tested. This testing will make sure the tank does not have leaks and also tests the strength or weakness of the tank.

Is it easy to contact the technician if we have any problems?

We are a family-owned company. Our technician is the owner of the company, and you can be sure that when you have a problem you will be contacting him directly. We are quick to respond and make sure that each and every one of our clients are taken care of right away. No more dealing with a big company that only cares about the profits.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes, we are fully licensed and insured.

What are the rates of your services?

Every hood system is different, so our rates vary due to the complexity of your inspection. We are happy to provide you with a price list via email so feel free to reach out if needed.

Do I have to sign a contract with your company?

No! We believe in earning your business and also think that our customer service and professionalism speaks for itself. We will never ask you to sign a contract.
